It is equipped with the latest in firefighting technology in the way of a unit called CAFS, Compressed Air Foam Systems. It has a tank capacity of 2000 litres and when used in conjunction with CAFS the tank supply can last up to 15 mins. It is also equiped with the usual fire fighting gear plus an Angus portable pump. We have had this appliance from new which we received at Christmas in 1998. A nice present for the brigade.

The appliance is of 6/3 specifications equipped with a Darley pump and CAF unit. The appliance is primarily set up as a rescue tender, carrying Hurst cutting equipment plus many other pieces of gear needed for rescue work, including lighting equipment. The appliance is also fully equipped with all the necessary fire fighting gear and with increased pumping capacity to the previous appliance is a great addition when utilised at larger fires.

2004 Ford Transit

For some time the Tokoroa Volunteer Fire Brigade saw a need for an additional vehicle to fulfil both non-emergency and specific emergency responses.

A fund raising project was launched and all funds were raised within the Tokoroa community, from businesses, raffles, service groups and many individual donations for the purchase of a new van.

  • Primarily it is an Emergency Response Vehicle attached to the NZFS system
  • Means of transporting fire service personnel to incidents without having to use private vehicles
  • Command and Control vehicle at large incidents (greater alarms)
  • Fire Safety and Education within the community
  • Risk management and assessment within the community

    • The van is equipped with to handle traffic control duties, provide lighting at incidents and is set up to enable it to be used as a command and control centre.

    Although based at Tokoroa 872 is known as the Area Spare and can be utilised anywhere in the Bay Waikato area when necessary. The appliance is equipped with a Darley pump with single hose reel. The unit is fully set up, equipped ready to respond to calls locally or be transfered to other Volunteer Stations.
